During its last I/O conference, Google unveiled a series of major improvements for its application. Google wallet.
The application is no longer limited to card storage, but is establishing itself as a real secure digital hub, combining identity, payment, transport, loyalty and an enriched customer experience.
Smart and contextualized notifications
The flagship innovation concerns location-based push notifications, which enrich the user experience with contextual alerts. These notifications are activated when the user approaches a key location, such as a store, airport, or concert hall to encourage the use of the wallet card on site.
For example, when a user enters the defined area, their pass is automatically displayed on the lock screen of their smartphone, allowing them quick access.
New features coming soon
Google Wallet also announced at the conference:
- The integration of digital identifiers (permits, passports) which is already adopted in several American states and soon in the United Kingdom with passport compatibility
- A digital identification API, developed with the W3C, which allows applications to verify identity or age via the wallet.
- For families, Family Link offers supervised management, with parental notifications on children's transactions.
- In transport, Google Wallet automatically integrates airline boarding passes and also offers real-time updates on tickets, such as punctuality or train delays.
